Hi Christopher,

Me and my crew are going to start to play the seven 13: cycle of existence tonight in Bogotá, Colombia. It could seem strange because by most of the signs the game is going down. The thing started almost 4 years ago, when I travel my first time out of my country. My crew and I were playing since 1996 and we have gone by several "crisis" (most of them mine) but we still are together and playing (not so often as the beginning). The thing is that "corporate game playing" started to bother me. We have not much time to prepare the game as we get older and there was a lot of rules and books that were there by the sake of the editor, not the players or the authors. This vision of mine was also empowered by free software and free culture movements, so I was looking for something similar. Most of the totally free (as in speech) RPGs had not the quality that would make my crew and myself to switch over them, so a middle point was the independent publisher and that's how I found Cycle of Existence, Universalis and Sorcerer. Having played the last two, now we want to hack the game from the beginning and your game has the proper balance between self-containment and richness to start with it. May be at the end the result will be something that has the things that we liked more of this years of role playing. I think that when things are really important (and role playing is one) you're not along and major undertakings are better in proper company. You have already done a lot by your self (and with your gaming crews) but now that you're thinking in following another paths, what do you thing about passing the torch to your community of rol players, what about making the transition from an independent role playing game to a open source free hackeable one? You will be the first on making that in the rpg scene (people have already done this on software business with good results)... You don't know where the seed of your creation is going to flourish... but I recommend to read "homesteading the noosphere"[1]_, and take a look on creative commons and it use in arts and education, before answering my question:

Thanks, Take care and... Walk in Balance

There's a chorus of different lines that should be coming your way, so I'm going to select them with the greatest of care and use only the most appropriate ones that are dancinging through my head right now.

"Do you need a hug?"
"You completely lost the point of the first paragraph. No really, how can your train of thought derail so many times in one post? Wait, nevermind.. I do that constantly."
"Tacos rule."

And by all that nonesense I actually mean: Look man, I know you're still draggin' through the shit here, but I think what's killing you the most is NOT having your old creative outlet. The music is there and that's good, but music has become work, whether you see it that way or not. Take that negativity that's wrapped itself around your life like some restraining wet blanket and unravel it to write something beautiful. Beauty in the sense of how I could stare for hours at rust running along an old pipe, or a ragget skin from a snake or shell from a locust. Something left behind and forgotten, but that hasn't left this world for the next step. Now that you have less free time doesn't make it the wrong time, it makes it the PERFECT time. Too much time leaves us indecisive with how to use it, we both work like that. Too little time feeds the stress that we strive on. As you've said before in game, "You eat it for breakfast." I say - pour a bowl, grab a spoon and dig the fuck in.

I love Dead Can Dance - my friend Chris introduced me to their music (the album Aion was the first one I heard) some years ago, and I have most of their albums now, which I dip into when the mood takes me.

So true, bro. I'm finding out the only way is to consider the past, preferably for a moment or so, then worry about what's going on in front of me.
